I am using a DRV-USBCOM-EVM with a DRV2624EVM-Mini and the Haptics Control Console. Out of the box, this isn't running, so I am investigating the I2C communications. There's no literature on the DRV-USBCOM-EVM. From the writing on the PCB, I assume I have it hooked up correctly, but I'm not reading or writing registers. I see only two 7-bit address reads when I click "Connect." The console sees "0.TI-Haptics-MSP-USB2I2C v1.4".

Hi, Mark:

can you please check the power supply and enable pin of DRV2624?

for HCC to use DRV2624EVMmini, please connect the EN pin to VDD. HCC doesn't control the EN pin.

That got me to the next step, thank you.
When I connect to the DRV-USBCOM-EVM in the Haptics Control Console, it reads DRV2426 register 0 with the correct value (0x02), but the Register Map stays in Simulator mode. I've tried various power-up sequences. The Haptics Control Console works with the DRV2624EVM-CT.

I've investigated the DRV2624EVM-Mini, and it works fine. I can drive it with my own GPIO & software. The Haptics Control Console seems to have trouble recognizing the DRV2624 through the DRV-USBCOM-EVM.

By the way, there is zero documentation on the DRV-USBCOM-EVM. If there's any jumpers or special procedures needed, I'm completely unaware.

You can force communication on the Haptics Control Console by going to Tools -> Preferences -> Force USB Data. If you check that box, you can control the DRV2624EVM-mini via the DRV2624 console window (in simulator mode), assuming the DRV-USBCOM-EVM is working properly. That way, it will send data even when the HCC does not recognize the device. Let us know if that solution works.

Thank you for the pointer. My own haptic driver has evolved to the point that I no longer need the Haptic Control Console. I may try your suggestion when I have time.
