DRV8704: Can it be controlled purely trough SPI?

Hi all,

I am new to develop motor drivers. I would like to know that can I drive DC motor using only SPI bus with DRV8704 or is that necessary to wire PWM inputs.

Hi Mert,

It is necessary to wire the PWM inputs, the nSLEEP pin, and the RESET pin. It is also recommended to monitor the FAULTn pin.

Hi Mert,

Yes, there are some. What are your voltage and current requirements?

Do you intend to drive two motors? Will the motors run in both directions?

Hi Rick,
I am planning to drive more than two. They are 24V and current limits are between 7-450W. Some motors will run both directions but some of them are not.

Hi Mert,

Please take a look at the DRV8703-Q1. This device has an OR function allowing the SPI interface to control the PWM inputs. The device has three control modes (PH/EN, IN/IN, or independent half bridge).
