DRV2605L: DRV2605LEVM-MD Steps to verify that MSP430 has been flashed

Part Number: DRV2605L

Hello,

I am working with a customer who is using the DRV2506LEVM-MD. He followed the steps in the EVM documentation to update the firmware via the BSL method, however the EVM is not driving the LRA or connecting to the HCC GUI.

Is there a way to actually verify that the MSP430 FW has been updated?

Is there a way to use the GUI to reflash the MSP430 FW to its original version?

What is the most up to date version of the MSP430 FW for the DRV2605LEVM-MD? On the EVM homepage it shows v1.0.

Thank you,

Jon

  • Hi Jon,

The firmware is updated if the updater returns success like the below image. I believe this is the only firmware compatible with HCC. It appears that the firmware on the webpage may have not been updated. I will look into this and get the new firmware uploaded.

Then you should see the EVM name appear in the USB drop-down menu like below.

FYI, Windows 10 is not supported, but we are releasing a new HCC version for Windows 10 in the next week or two. We just finished testing this new version.

  • Hello,
it appears the Firmware posted on the website for DRV2605LEVM-MD is very old and on compiling it and loading it on the EVM board the HCC GUI reports the firmware version as HAPTICS-MSPUSB2I2C.
    What does the string mean?

The version pointed to by our TI FAE is DRV2605LEVM-MD_v1p3.txt . Can we please get sources for this version? (Assuming this is the latest)

Also we intend to exercise the board initially by using the various pre programmed profiles. One of the user guides suggests we should change the parameters in Haptics.h file to achieve our goal. Is it still the recommended approach ? We are asking this because the user guides are pretty old

    Thanks very much
    Sreedhar
  • I believe that string refers to a previous control method used when this EVM was created. I know the USB2I2C is an older board that we no longer use.

Please find the new firmware in this E2E post:

Yes, that is still the recommended approach.
