DRV2605EVM-CT: Is it possible to use the ROM Library mode with an external trigger?

Part Number: DRV2605EVM-CT
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2605

Hello,

Our customer use the DRV2605EVM-CT.

The customer want to evaluate the ROM Library mode using an external trigger signal to the PWM test point.

Is that possible?

If it is possible, how to configuration the evaluation kit?

Best Regards,

Naoki Aoyama

  • Hi Aoyama-san,

This procedure is explained in the user's guide section 4.5: www.ti.com/.../slou348b.pdf

  • Hello Ivan-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
I checked the user's guide and understood the configuration a part.

    1.Remove jumper JP1.
    2.Enter Additional Hardware Modes.
    (Access Binary Counting Modes)
    3.........

The customer want to test 123 pattern in the ROM.
For example, when they are testing the pattern of Effect ID#=95,
    how should they configure it?
How to select the Effect ID#?

    Best Regards,

  • Aoyama-san,

That would be the step 4: Fill the waveform sequencer with waveforms using the external I2C port.
For the example of using effect #95, customer would need to add it to the waveform sequencer queue, this is done by writing into register 0x04, as follows:
    w 5A 04 5F
Where 5A is the hex i2c address of DRV2605, 04 is the register address and 5F is effect ID# in hex.
Once this is written into the device, and the device is also configured for external trigger (by instructions from user's guide or writing into register 0x01) an external trigger will start the waveform sequencer.
