DRV8872: can it last for years without fail with using current limit function?

Dear Sir/Madam,

i am planning to use DRV8872 is one of the H-Bridge project design. the typical normal operating current is 200 to 300mA and peak current at 1A. I had set the external resistor to get current regulation at 1A. My question is is it ok to keep using this functions to clamp down the current for few years in this way without fails?
