Sorry for the delay. You can use the DRV in 1xPWM mode and the built in Hall sensor inputs on the EVM to do this. The single needed PWM can either come from a function generator or any MCU.

If I'm only applying a single PWM; What type of control (speed/torque) is implemented by the DRV? What is the allowed range of input frequencies and duty cycle?

Sorry for the delay here.

The DRV835x accepts up to 200kHz. Most of our customers switch at 20kHz because it's above the audio band but still gives good EMI and less losses. The speed and torque is not measured by the DRV but Duty cycle will adjust the output current given a constant PWM input frequency.
