Hi:

I'm using DRV2604 to drive an ERM vibrator. Please provide me the detailed explanation of each field in Design Tool.

Hi Edward,

Welcome to e2e.
In the first sheet of the spreadsheet there is a flow-chart explaining what is each page used for.
On the voltage equations sheet you must input some values:
- Vratedvoltage and Voverdrive should be taken from the actuator spec sheet.
- DriveTime, BlankingTime and IDissTime can be left as default, but if you want to understand a bit more on what each of these parameter are used for, you can take a look at DRV2604 data sheet sections 7.5.1.1 to 7.5.1.3: www.ti.com/.../drv2604.pdf
There is some additional information about DriveTime in register the map: www.ti.com/.../drv2604.pdf

Once you obtain the register values, you can check them on Auto-Calibration table to run the calibration. After that you can use Initialize and Play Waveform sheets.

Hi Ivan:
Thanks a lot for you reply. If the nominal voltage of the ERM vibrator is DC 3.0V and voltage working range is 2.7V~3.5V. Should I set V_overdrive in the second sheet as 3.5V? or lower ?

Yes, 3V would be the rated voltage and 3.5V the overdrive voltage.

Ivan:

1.Does that mean we use closed loop to control vibrator if we are using only I2C to control the haptic driver?

2. If we are using closed loop, Should we set the Mode register into internal trigger(0) after calibration process?

Can you explain a bit more on your questions, I might not have understood what you're asking.
1. Closed loop mode is used for calibration. If you're using only I2C, perhaps RTP mode would be good for you.
2. This would depend on the mode you want to use the device. In what mode do you want to use the device?
