DRV8837: Lower suspend mode consumption

Part Number: DRV8837
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8838,

Hi,

Customer is considering to use DRV8837 or DRV8838 to achieve a lower current consumption during suspend mode when the chip is not functional (with no input from pin5/pin6.)  They can support two input as PWM or non-PWM input control, may I know if there's a difference of suspend mode consumption between these two chips?  Or you have a even better proposal other than these two chip to achieve a lower suspend mode consumption?

Thanks!

Antony

  • Hi Antony,

A better way to minimize power consumption when entering sleep mode is to set all inputs as a logic low to minimize systems power. This way, the power consumption is lowered by eliminating the current through the internal pulldown resistors.
