DRV8871: Flyback Diode

Part Number: DRV8871

Hi,

We are designing a DC-Motor controller using DRV8871. Our DC Motor is rated 12V 150mA.

Our questions are,
1) Is it recommend to add external flyback diodes between the Motor Driving OUT1 & OUT2 pins of DRV8871? Or DRV8871's integrated flyback diodes sufficient?

(We checked DRV8871EVM schematics and no external flyback diodes are used)

2) Can DRV8871's Logic-Level Inputs be directly connected to MCU GPIO pins (3.3V) or is it recommended to add a series resistance to limit current drawn by DRV8871 during logic high (3.3V) from MCU GPIO pins?

(The MCU is battery powered, so power consumption by any external components connected through MCU GPIO pins is of utmost concern)

Regards,
Ashok
