DRV8844: ground isolation

Part Number: DRV8844

Hi,

I was wondering if the logic ground pin (LGND) is electrically isolated from VNEG and PPAD? I'd like to use separate grounds for the microcontroller and the motor, and am wondering if I can connect LGND to my 'clean' ground and VNEG/PPAD to the motor ground?

If so, I'd like to confirm which pins are referenced to LGND; is it all the INx / ENx, nRST, nSLEEP, and nFAULT?

thanks,

Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Yes, LGND is isolated from VNEG and PPAD.

Please note the absolute minimum LGND of -0.5V with respect to VNEG.

All the logic pins are referenced to LGND (INx, ENx, nRESET, nSLEEP, and nFAULT).

FYI -- V3P3OUT is referenced to VNEG.
