DRV8844: DRV8844

Part Number: DRV8844

Hello,

I'm planning to use DRV8844 to drive 2 solenoid valves, and I just want to check if one terminal of valves can connect to the output (OUT) and the other terminal connect to GND.

Thanks,

Nhi

  • Nhi,

DRV8844 is quad 1/2 bridges which can Drive Four Solenoids, Two DC Motors, One Stepper Motor, or Other Loads.

Yes. One terminal of valves can connect to the output (OUT) and the other terminal connect to GND.

  • Wang,

    Thank you for the confirmation.

    Regards,

    Nhi

  • Wang,

When I connected the valves to the outputs of the DRV8844EVM and turned on the valves, I noticed that there are around 350mA current drawing from the power supply. I thought the the DRV8844 would take ~3mA as input supply current, and will provide the output current the valves via CP and reg in the driver. Is that correct?

    Thanks,

    Nhi

  • Nhi,

On the EVM, there is several other ICs on the board. To find out the DRV8844 current, you can compare the current with nSLEEP pin low and nSLEEP pin high.

The 3mA current supports charge pump, reference and other internal circuit. The valves current goes through VM to OUTx.
