DRV10970EVM: How to determine the zero crossing degree

Part Number: DRV10970EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10970

Hello,

I just ordered the DRV10970 EVM to run my three-phase DC motors. I haven't had any experience with 3-phase motor and I'm reading through the user manual right now. For the power up sequence, there some steps on how set up the jumpers for DAA(drive angle adjustment) and CMTMOD (commutation mode) correctly before turning the board on. Based on my understanding, I need to know when the motor is spinning in a clockwise direction, zero crossing for Hall signals trailing BEMF zero is crossing by what degree, 30 or 0 degree.

The problem is I don't know if it's crossing at 30 degree or zero degree. How can I determine that before spinning the motor? (there is nothing in the motor datasheet).

In addition, there are 6 pins to connect hall sensors (U_HP/U_HN, V_HP/V_HN, W_HP/W_HN) while there are only 3 wires for hall sensors coming out of the motor in addition to H_PWR and H_GND. Should I leave x_HN pins unconnected?

Thanks,
