DRV8844: Support on Control algorithm for RM44 in Stepper Motor Control

Hi DRV Team,

My customer is using our RM44 microcontroller to control stepper motors. PWMs are currently coming from DRV8412 and they use a PID algorithm to modify the PWMs. This algorithm is based on the current measurements of the individual half bridges.

 

To get a smaller solution size in a new design, they want to move to DRV8844. However, this device only allows the current measurement of the complete H-Bridge.

 

Do we have some example code / algorithm for such a topology or could someone from the team help to adapt their existing solution to work with DRV8844?

    There is no example code for DRV8844 doing current sensing and PWM control the winding current.

    In DRV8844EVM folder,  the software zip file includes the firmware which can make on board MSP430 handles the communication with GUI and control DRV8844. But, customers need to add current regulation and PWM circuit to control a stepper motor's winding current.

    Would you check DRV8886 to see it can meet your requirement?
