DRV10983EVM: GUI does not work

Hello,

I've downloaded the DRV10983EMV software (Setup_DRV109xx_EVM.exe) and istalled it.

When running it there comes an error message

"DRV10983 USB2ANY.lvclass:WriteRegister.vi<ERR> Register writing not successfull!! Please resart the GUI and try again"

of course restarting does not solve the problem.

I tried to reinsatall the LV Runtime engine, installer says I already have it or a newer installed.

I can not configure (= use) the EMV.

Hi Philipp,

Thanks for posting in MD forum. What version of LabView have you installed? In order to run properly, Labview runtime engine 2014 should be installed. Below is the download link.

Also, make sure the supply voltage Vcc is above 8V before running the GUI.

Hello,

When trying to install the LV-Runtime 2014 it says that I have already installed the newest Version of the LV-Runtime 2014.
I have also installed the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Runtime.

Hi Philipp,

Can you uninstall all the versions of LV and reinstall the 2014 version?

I did that and after some time it suddently worked....

Now I struggle tuning the parameters for my motor....

Good to know that your GUI works.

We can work on tuning the parameters. Can you share the motor datasheet? I also recommend you to read the Tuning guide which will be very helpful in the tuning process. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Hello,

I've read the tuning guide but the motor runs not really, the current is very high. Target speed is 3600rpm, but the motor moves very slowly and gets warm.

Winding resistance is clear, the speed konstant is very low 0.89V/kRPM thats lower then the lowest value that can be set in the GUI.

Hi Philipp,

Thanks for sharing the datasheet. BEMF constant Kt units in the GUI is mV/Hz where V is the peak voltage and Hz is the electrical frequency. BEMF constant in datasheet is 0..89 Vrms/krpm. Converting 0.89 Vrms/krm to mV/Hz gives 18.87 mV/Hz. I have shown the conversion below.

1000 rpm in electrical frequency is 1000*poles/120 = 66.67 Hz. 0.89V rms to peak gives 0.89*sqrt(2) = 1.258 Vpeak. BEMF in mV/Hz is 1.258*1000/66.67 = 18.87 mV/Hz.

Program 18.87 mV/Hz in GUI and see if this solves the issue. Please make sure all the faults in Advanced settings tab are enabled and let me know what type of fault gets triggered. If you see "Abnormal BEMF" fault, increase the Open to closed loop threshold frequency and try again.
