DRV10983EVM: Mismatch of speed command and actual speed.

Part Number: DRV10983EVM

Hi team,

The actual motor speed is 64.3Hz, and I found that the frequency of phase current is also 64.3Hz. But the speed command I sent is 80. Could you tell me the relationship between speed command and actual speed?

  • Hi Naizeng,

Thanks for posting this question in MD forum.

The I2C speed command is on a scale of 511. When you write 80 to the I2C speed command, the duty cycle will be 80/511 = 15.65%. You will see the motor spinning at 15.65% of the rated speed. In your case it is 64.3 Hz. When you write 511 to the I2C speed command, you should see the motor spinning at 410.7 Hz which is the rated speed at 100% duty cycle. You can also see the duty cycle % in the Speed command.
