DRV10983EVM: BrkDoneThr

Part Number: DRV10983EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983, DRV10975

Hi team,

I'm so confused about the brake function. BrkDoneThr is time register, how can it be compared with speed?

If the motor spins forward, it will directly go to closed loop according to the flow chart. How can it be stopped by brake function? Is it wrong in 8.4.3.4 of the datasheet?

I think the blue block should be Time<BrkDoneThr.

  • Hi Naizeng,

Looks like you are looking into the datasheet of DRV10975. Section 8.4.3.4 in DRV10975 datasheet needs to be updated. Please look into section 8.4.3.4 in DRV10983 Datasheet for the updated information about Motor braking.

DRV10983 executes the re-synchronization process (see section 8.4.3.2) by transitioning directly into the closed-loop state if the motor is spinning in the forward direction.

The Motor start sequencer (MSS) applies brake for time configured by BRKDontThr[2:0]. After brake state, the MSS advances to the IPDEn judgment. If time is lesser than BRKDontThr[2:0] the device should be applying brake. So as you said time < BrkDoneThr.

    Regards,

    Vishnu
