DRV8830: Confirmation of DRV8830 datasheet

Part Number: DRV8830

Hi Team,

I am confused about the "8.2.2.2 Mortor current trip point" of the DRV8830 datasheet.
Firstly is the IILIMIT and ILIMIT the same? I think IILIMIT is just a typo.
Secondly "To set IILIMIT to 0.5 A" but why does it use 0.9A at "RISENSE = 0.2 V / 0.9 A = 0.22 Ω."?
I think the currenct shoule be all 0.5A or 0.9A.
But according to the description of "To prevent false trips, ILIMIT must be higher than regular operating current."
Does it means that 0.5A is the regular operating current and to prevent false trips, ILIMIT must be higher than 0.5A so it is 0.9A?

Beat Regards,
Tom Liu

  • Tom,

IILIMIT should be a typo. The IILIMIT and ILIMIT the same should be same.

Yes. I would think if we change "To set ILIMIT to 0.5A" to "To set ILIMIT for 0.5A regular operating current", it would be easy to understand and match the following sentence: "ILIMIT must be higher than regular operating current."

    Thank you for your feedback.
