DRV8601: Looking for PWM/Analog (not I2C) LRA drivers capable of driving 0.6V 240 Hz LRA

Part Number: DRV8601
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2603

I found a list of haptic drivers available from TI at www.ti.com/.../products.html. I will be operating a large number of LRA motors, each of which requires 0.6V AC voltage @ 19 mA, with a resonance frequency of ~240 Hz (www.vibration-motor.com/.../g0832012). My controller circuitry is not suitable to use I2C, however it's equipped to perform individual PWM/analog control of hundreds of LRA drivers. Do you have suggestions of any low-power haptic driver for the scenario? I looked at a couple of haptic drivers and hypothesized DRV8601 might be the closest to what I need, but I am not sure.

  • Hi, Swapnil,

Welcome to E2E and thank you for your interest in our products!

I took a look at our haptics portfolio and it seems that the DRV8601 and the DRV2603 are the only devices that we have that support PWM/analog control only. However, the DRV2603 doesn't support the frequency range that you would like to achieve (220Hz max). So, the DRV8601 would be the only option.

Please let me know if you have additional questions or comments.

    Best regards,
    Luis Fernando Rodríguez S.
