DRV8825: DRV8825 and current measure for detect stuck stepper

Part Number: DRV8825
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA180
Hello,
I am using a DRV8825 (use pollolu driver carrier) driven by a DSPIC32 microcontroller in full step mode.
For detect any stepper problem as lose step, stuck stepper and disconnect stepper, i have added a 0.01R resistance in series of the VMx pin and an INA180 for the amplifier to measure the current of the stepper.
I 've compared the current when the stepper is working properly and when the stepper is stuck.
But when it is blocked, it dont have more current, and the waveform of the current is almost the same as in normal operation.
Do you have a metodogy for using current sensing for detect stepper stuck?
The other solution is to add a encoder but it have more cost and more pin in microcontroller for use it.

Thank you
