DRV10974: increase current

Part Number: DRV10974
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10987

Hi

USING DRV10974  , WANT TO ADD EXTERNAL MOSFETS TO THE OUTPUTS , SO I CAN INCREASE CURRENT TO 3 PHASE BRUSHLESS motor.

Do you have a reference design please or some info ?

Thanks

Colin

  • Hi Colin,

Thanks for posting your question in MD forum. Unfortunately, adding a parallel MOSFET to increase the current capability of the device will not work as DRV10974 has internal FETs and commutation signals cannot be tapped out of the device. What is the rated current of the motor ? I would recommend you to take a look at the DRV10x selection guide which might help you pick the right device. If your motor's rated current is within 2A then I would recommend you to use DRV10987.

    Regards,

    Vishnu.
