DRV8834: Stop current setting/

Part Number: DRV8834

Does our device support half stop current lock?(No describe in datasheet.) when stop, the current locked half.

And how could our device realize it? any material for us to realize?

in addition, will 32 step output ability lower than 16 step?

like drive ability.

  • Shuang,

DRV8834 doesn't support half stop current lock automatically.

Customers can reduce AVREF and BVREF by half to achieve half stop current lock if the system know that the motor is stopped.

The micro-step setting is similar the host controller has to change the setup.

  • Thanks for your suggestion.

now we checked the wave with some problem. need for your comments.

we test sleep pin wave is yellow wave. we used sleep to control enable of motor. the blue wave is the current of the motor.

    1. we see glitch in sleep wave. any influence in control? how to optimize it?

2.some time, current will be abnormal. like negative direction. this is random. appear several times. and will return to normal after some time. any comments on this?

  • Shuang,

    1. nSLEEP pin is an input pin with a small leakage current. If there is a glitch, please check the input signal. If too much noise on nSLEEP signal, we may consider to reduce the pull-up resistor or put a small capacitor on nSLEEP pin.

    2. Please fix the nSLEEP pin issue first. And then, show the winding current with step signal, OUTx on the scope picture?

  • Shuang,

I didn't get the feedback. Let me close this thread.

After nSLEEP pin issue is fixed, you can start a new thread if there is another issue.
