DRV8106-Q1: Using the DRV8106 as a unidirectional high-side pre-driver

Part Number: DRV8106-Q1

Recently I asked TI about using the DRV8106 as a bidirectional cut-off switch pre-driver.  I would also like to know if the DRV8106 can be used as a unidirectional high-side pre-driver for a channel that supports 100% high side on-time with no low side output activation.  Something like the picture above.  I understand this may not be resolved until you get the board and test the other, more complex configuration but I am interested in this one too.

  • Hi Mike,

This is supported.  Likely the device will detect the missing low-side FET, however the device can be configured to disable only the low-side driver and allow the high-side driver to function normally without any loss of diagnostics on the high-side.

    Regards,
    Mike
