CCS/BOOSTXL-DRV8320S: Software to work with MSP430FR2355

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8320S
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP-EXP430FR2355, MSP-EXP430F5529LP, BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS, BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH, BOOSTXL-DRV8320H, BOOSTXL-DRV8304H, MSP430F5529, MSP430FR2355, DRV8304

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I refer to page 2 of this document:

SLAA967 – October 2020

In the footnote to the table, and at the last paragraph of that page, TI indicate there is software for the combination of:

BOOSTXL-DRV8320S
+
MSP-EXP430FR2355

I bought those modules but cannot find the software,

Where can I find that software and does it work?

  • Hello ,

Apologizes for the confusion, the text should have said: MSP-EXP430F5529LP or MSP-EXP430FR2355 as each of the EVMs (e BOOSTXL-DRV8304H, BOOSTXLDRV8320S, BOOSTXL-DRV8320H, BOOSTXL-DRV8323RS, and BOOSTXL-DRV8323RH) are paired with only one of the launchpads.

As result, the BOOSTXL-DRV8320S works with MSP-EXP430F5529LP and not the MSP-EXP430FR2355. Apologize for the inconvenience, I've passed the feedback internally to see if we can get that changed..

    Best,

    -Cole

  • I understand that the DRV8320 is not supported currently by the '2355 EVM. But your response indicates that some combination is currently supported.

Can you please let me know which DRV83xx is supported by the '2355 EVM?

The note earlier on that page states:

MSP430FR2355 MCU Launchpad solution to be released October 2020 as replacement for MSP430F5529 Launchpad.

So I would not like to know when the documentation will change but instead I would like to know when the software will be ready ('8320 + '2355). Can you please provide an idea of that date?

  • Hello ,

Thanks for the clarification, I understand the question. Give me some time to consult with the team, every reference (and software) in the product page still mentions the 5529. Let me see if we're still lagging on updating the text and rest is in place.

    Best,

    -Cole

  • Hello ,

Talking with the team the software release and documentation for conversion that were meant for October 2020 was moved the a general date of Q1 for 2021.

  • Thank you Cole; this is a great help.

I think we will have this combination working before TI!
