DRV10970: Just how fast can this thing go? I need 13k RPM, but the next guy might need...

Part Number: DRV10970

I've looked over the datasheet and it simply should, but apparently does not say.   I have an application where we're using these little tiny BLDCs with gear drives.  They need to crank 13k RPM.   Going too slow can blow the motor.

How fast can I get a DRV10970 controller motor spinning?

  • Hi Robert,

Take a look at this E2E FAQ: LINK. DRV10970 supports up to 1000 Hz electrical frequency which can be related to the rpm via the below equation (also from the FAQ):

This equation would tell me that the motor must have 4 or less pole pairs for the DRV10970 maximum speed to correlate to >13k RPM.
