DRV8702-Q1: VREF pin voltage limit

Hi,

I'm using the DRV8702-Q1 for independent PWM driving. In such conditions I don't need current regulation, so the datasheet suggest connecting VREF directly to AVDD.

My doubt is that AVDD=5V and the recommended operating condition of VREF goes up to 3.6 V. Therefore, should I use a resistor divider to obtain 3.6 V, or do as stated and connect to AVDD? If it is the latter, would the performance/reliability of the part be compromised?

Hi Federico,

You raise an interesting point - the datasheet does recommend tying VREF directly to AVDD, however ABS max on VREF is 5.75V. Let me check with design to ensure this is not an issue. It may take a couple days to get a response and will check in with you on Monday if we do not hear back sooner.

It is no problem to connect to AVDD with no reliability concerns.
