DRV10970: Motor driver controller stall detection

Part Number: DRV10970

Hi team,

My customer is surveying discrete motor stall detection solution. We saw TI document which mentioned hall sensor to implement stall detection feature to protect motor structure. If you have any advice, please let me know, thanks.

  • Hi Hardy,

Thanks for posting your question in MD forum. Is the customer looking for stall detection solution in DRV10970? DRV10970 device has internal lock detection algorithm. This device determines the rotor lock condition based on the absence of Hall input switching (refer to section 8.3.3 in the datasheet for more details). Is there any specific reason as to why the customer is looking for a discrete solution while the device already provides this solution?

    Regards,

    Vishnu.
