DRV8332: Sense resistors on GND_X pins.

Part Number: DRV8332

Sense resistors are mentioned in 8.4.1, pictured in Figure 8 typical application diagram and described once again in 9.2.1.2.5

Are these user-specific sense resistors or are they required for the DRV8332's operation on its own? Are they related to the overcurrent protection of the device? I would like to know if they are strictly necessary or not.

Thanks,
Shaun

  • Hello Shaun,

    Thanks for your question!

DRV8332 does not need sense resistors to operate. They are normally used in system if you want to measure the motor current.

Overcurrent protection does not require these sense resistors.

    Thanks,

    Matt
