BOOSTXL-DRV8320H: IDRIVE Pin

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8320H
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8320, CSD88537ND

Hi Teams,

My customer set IDRIVE from tr/tf of FET (CDS88537).

 260/520mA (VDS: 1.13V) → 75kΩ connected to DVDD (520mA).

However, nFAULT causes the output to output and STOP.

As a result of measuring the gate waveform, overshoot/undershoot is visible.

If IDRIVE = Hi-Z, overshoot/undershoot will be smaller and nFAULT will not appear.

Is there a way to reduce the overshoot/undershoot even further?

Best Regrads,

Kenji

  • Hello Kenji-san,

I would recommend setting the lowest setting for IDRIVE. We recommend a rise time of 100-300ns, CSD88537ND has a Qgd of 2.3nC, and so the lowest IDRIVE setting on DRV8320 is 10mA source (tie IDRIVE pin to GND). RT = Qgd/IDRIVE = 2.3nC/10mA = 230ns.

    Thanks,

    Matt
