DRV8870: Waveform questions

Part Number: DRV8870

Hi Team,

Please refer question on waveform as below:

When both IN1 and IN2 are set to low logic, the device working on low side recirculation. Why there is positive 4V on OUT1? If there any current flowing, there is 0.7 voltage drop from GND.

Best Regards,

Randy Wang

  • Hi Randy,

According to Table 1 in datasheet when IN1 and IN2 are low (0) both outputs are set to High-Z

and H-bridge is in coast mode.

I think in coast mode if motor BEMF is higher than VM then current will flow through

Mosfet body diodes to VM if not there is no current flow but BEMF will give some

voltage on outputs during its measurement.

    Regards,

    Grzegorz
