DRV110 hold and peak maximum current settinng

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV110, DRV110EVM

Hi,

I want to use DRV110 for the large coil current.

The hold and peak current can be limited by an external resistor, is there the upper limit?

As long as Rsense value  continue to reduce, does it current will  increase?

I will use DRV110EVM at Ipeak set to 6A and Ihold set to 3A and Vin is under 24V.

Does this usage is wrong?

Best regards,

Tomoaki Yoshida

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

Our experts have been contacted and should reply soon.

  • Hi Yoshida-san,

There is no upper limit specified, though the drive strength is a fixed amount so larger FETs may lead to more power loss during switching.

The part should regulate properly as long as the Rsense is scaled properly.

Note that the FET on the EVM is only rated up to 1A DC current, so it will not be suitable for this application.

Good luck on your testing and let me know if you have any issues.
