HapTouch GUI download

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2605LEVM-CT, DRV2603, DRV2605L, DRV2625, DRV2605, MSP430TCH5E

I did not see the HapTouch_GUI - PC tool to drive haptics and create new haptics sequences, and program them to the BoosterPack included in the SDK.

I am trying to set up an evaluation device using the HapTouch Booster pack with an MSP430 Launch Pad.

I also have the DRV-USBCOM-EVM and the DRV2605LEVM-CT. I can control the DRV2605LEVM-CT using the DRV-USBCOM-EVM and the Haptics Control Panel.

I have tried using the DRV-USBCOM-EVM and I2C to control the HapTouch Booster pack to change the haptics playback but cannot communicate.

What setup , software and/or additional hardware do I need to control the HapTouch Booster pack to change the haptics playback sequences?

I appreciate any help on this to finish my prototype for evaluation.

How does the HapTouch Booster eval PCB communicate with the no longer avaialable  HapTouch_GUI?

Can someone send me a copy of the MSP430_HapTouchGui_0.00.0012 software as that seems to be the easiest solution but I can not find a copy anywhere!

Thanks,

TA

  • Hello Steve,

The HapTouch Booster pack and software is supported by Farnell. I would recommend reaching out to their support team to get support/access to the HapTouchGui.

    Best Regards,
    Javier Palomo
  • Thanks for that information. I have emailed Farnell and will update my post after I receive their response.
I had already contacted TI and they basically told me the software is no longer supported so it's not available to download!?!
They should update their website to state this.
Even if it's not "supported" they should still provide the software to the end user "AS IS".
I really just need a simple way to play back some specific haptic effects for a demo and the HapTouch Gui would be the easiest method.
Hopefully Farnell or another TI user will provide me with a copy.
  • Steve,

Thank you for that feedback, I will look into updating the website.

Please let me know if Farnell was able to provide you a copy of the software, if not I can see what I can find on my end.

    Best Regards,
    Javier Palomo
  • Javier,

Farnell was not any help either. Here is a screenshot of the GUI I am looking for and it is part of the HapTouch SDK.

It is advertised as available on TI, Farnell, Newark, etc. but no one has it to download!

Where can I get a copy of this GUI and the HapTouch SDK?

If any other TI users have a copy I can attached my email to send.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks,

    TA

  • Steve,

Let me dig around and see if anyone has an available GUI and SDK that we can provide you.

    Best Regards,

  • I have exhausted all avenues for support to get a copy of the Haptics GUI software to control the TI eval board and to prototype their Haptics drivers.

The most disappointing thing about this whole ordeal is the fact they still continue to sell the eval board but will not provide a copy of the advertised software because it is "no longer supported".

Why do they still sell the hardware if the software is no longer available or supported? Why not mention this on their website?

I have spent a small amount of money but many hours of my time trying to set up a prototype system only to find out weeks later that TI will not send me copy of the GUI to control the prototype.

Not very good customer service TI. I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in your customer support and also surprised since I have dealt with TI products for many years and generally received very good customer support.

I'm afraid TI dropped the ball on this one and I will be less inclined to look at TI first for a hardware solution for future products due to the VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

At least change your website to tell others that you will not provide the software necessary to control the hardware! Waste of time and money! Very frustrating!

  • Hi, Steve:

    apologies for late response.

we asked around and no one in our team has ever worked on the HapTouch GUI before.

after diging more, i think the HapTouch GUI should be developed by MSP430 team, not our team.

the DRV2603 is indeed from our production line, but it doesn't have any Haptic effects built-in.

DRV2605/DRV2605L/DRV2625 from our production line have the Haptic effects.

please refer to "MSP430TCH5E" for more information about HapTouch GUI.

  • Hello Steve,

I apologize for the frustration that you have experienced trying to obtain the software for the device you purchased. We are taking the necessary actions to ensure that this device is not made available for purchase without the included software.

Since the software is currently unavailable I wanted to reach out to you offline to ensure that you have a functional development kit for your prototype system. I will reach out to you directly and work to get you a solution.

Thank you for your interest in TI’s haptic technology.
