DRV10983: BLDC Issue

Part Number: DRV10983

Hello,

I am working on ceiling fan with Brushless DC motor, and

My EEPROM configuration registers are:

  1. (0x20)MotorParam_1 == 0x4D
  2. (0x21)MotorParam_2 == 0XE9
  3. (0x22)MotorParam_3 == 0x4A
  4. (0x23)SysOpt_1 == 0x64
  5. (0x24)SysOpt_2 == 0xDB
  6. (0x25)SysOpt_3 == 0xFD
  7. (0x26)SysOpt_4 == 0x77
  8. (0x27)SysOpt_5 == 0xBC
  9. (0x28)SysOpt_6 == 0x7B
  10. (0x29)SysOpt_7 == 0XF9
  11. (0x2A)SysOpt_8 == 0x79
  12. (0x2B)SysOpt_9 == 0x0E

FaultCode Register gives 0x00 or no error.

What happen is:

1-   When I start power supply at 24V DC current pointer in the power supply swing between 0 to 0.4A and fan doesn't spin.

2-   I decrease voltage of supply from 24V DC to 15V DC, current drawn by driver increase and fan spin at slow speed then I increase voltage again to 20V DC current drop to zero and fan stop spinning.

So, please can you advise me which me which parameter could effect on previous behavior and make fan spin properly?

Is something in parameters above?

  • Ahmed,

    Could you try disabling the IPD function, set the align time to 2.7 sec (or 5.3 sec). This is just to see if the ISD function is getting the correct position or not.

    If this works then the IPD current level may need to be adjusted in order to get the correct initial position.

    A scope shot of the Phase U current would also be helpful in determining the issue.

    Thanks,
    Brian
