DRV8872: some question about disable the current regulation function

Part Number: DRV8872

Hi Sir,

From the DRV8872 datasheet , it looks tie the ISEN pin to gnd is allowed and will disable the current regulation. Am I right?

In the EVB ,we found out if we disable the current regulation, the fault single is trigger when Iout over 2.5A. Does it enter to Thermal shut down ?

  • Hi KJ,

Connecting the ISEN pin to GND disables current regulation. Overcurrent protection is still enabled.

Please monitor the timing of the fault pin.

If the nFAULT is low for ~3ms, the fault is overcurrent.
If the nFAULT is low for much longer it is over temperature.
