DRV8305: DRV8305 FET Selection

Part Number: DRV8305
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD88537ND, CSD18532Q5B, , DRV8353, DRV8323

I have used the DRV80350 with CSD18532Q5B FETs, however I am looking to do a smaller, lower power unit and would like to use CSD88537ND FETs.

What do I need to be aware of to successfully connect these.

  • Richard,

Both of these FETs seem to be 5mm by 6mm. Physically they are not smaller.

The CSD88537ND does handle less current and has much higher RDSON. It also has smaller Gate charge and Gate to Drain charge. The only thing to be aware of is that the smaller device will need much less IDRIVE to switch in the same time. This can be changed using SPI registers on the DRV8305.

    Regards,

  • Hi Adam,

Thanks for the response, I will adjust the IDRIVE value.
I thought that the CSD88537ND was a dual FET in an SO8 package compared with the 6x5 SON for the CSD18532Q5B. Are there smaller alternatives that you could recommend.
    Thanks

    Richard

  • Richard,

Please look at the EVMs for DRV8305, DRV8323, and DRV8353.

You will probably find a NextFET that fits your needs.
