DRV2510-Q1: Voltage range of IN+ pin of DRV2510-Q1/DRV2511-Q1

Part Number: DRV2510-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2511-Q1, DAC80504, DRV8801A-Q1

We are planning to use voice coil motor driver DRV2510-Q1 or DRV2511-Q1 in our application to drive single phase voice coil motor.  we are planning to control the speed and direction of voice coil motor with the help of DAC80504.  Please confirm us the feasibility on driving DRV2510-Q1 with DAC- DAC80504.

We have a doubt because Voltage range of "IN+" pin of motor driver is not given in datasheet of DRV2510-Q1.  Also please confirm on bidirectional motor current control with DRV2510-Q1 /DRV2511-Q1.

Awaiting for the quick response!!

  • Hi Smitha,

The input voltage limits are given by Vicmin and Vicmax. It goes from 0.3V to 4.4V.

The output current can go up to 3.5A, which is the over-current protection trip point. The output connection OUT+/OUT- is a BTL (differential) connection, so bidirectional control can be performed based on the input signal.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thanks for the quick response.  Also we would want to know if part DRV8801A-Q1 can be used to drive linear voice coil motor?  Please confirm on this.

Also I found except DRV8801A-Q1, all other TI parts are 3-Phase BLDC motor drivers.  Please let me know if i can use any other single phase BLDC motor driver to drive linear voice coil motor.

    Thanks,

    Smitha R

  • Smitha,

I would say you can use DRV8801A-Q1 to drive a coil between OUTA and OUTB..

However this device belongs to a different support team. Can you please submit a new e2e post for your questions regarding this devices and other motor drivers? Thank you!
