DRV10983EVM: Strange Motor Driving Inconsistency

Part Number: DRV10983EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983

Hi,

I am using the evaluation board with a small brushless DC motor but am having inconsistent issues with it. After tweaking the settings, such as motor resistance, I was able to finally get it working. However, a few days later I reverted back to my saved configuration, and for some reason the motor was no longer working. The motor is not damaged, since it works with another type of motor controller.

I used an LCR meter (albeit an error prone method) to measure the motor phase to center tap resistance and inductance to be 2.89mH and and 6.4ohm. It is a Wye motor. kTh = 22.65 mV/Hz. Supply voltage is 12VDC.

I keep getting the over current error indicator, which I know I cannot turn off. I turned off all the locks but still no resolution. Below are my U(Channel 2),V(Channel 1), W(channel 3) waveforms to the motor when it is trying to start today with the IPD. I don't see why it thinks the current is high when in fact, the voltage (peak to peak) is 22V and my motor resistance (phase to phase) is around 12 ohms. Open loop configuration behaves in the same way. And, even more strange, using the attached configuration, this use to work.  I also attached the .cfg file for the configuration that used to work. Can you please help? Thank you.motorpump1.cfg
