DRV8837: Can the DRV8837 work normally at an altitude of 3000-4000 meters

Part Number: DRV8837

Dear TI Experts~

Please help me check the impact of altitude on the DRV8837 chip. Can the DRV8837 work normally at an altitude of 3000-4000 meters? The product is a E-lock

Thanks,
Robin

  • Hello Robin,

The DRV8837 should work in those altitudes as long as the operating temperature does not go beyond the recommended value listed on the datasheet. However, a thing to keep in mind is that the thermal conductivity of air will change as the altitude increases. Therefore, the IC will run at higher operating temperature at higher elevation compared to sea level elevation. Read section 1.5 on the app note  to learn more.
