DRV2605: DRV2605 fee to Immersion

Hi TI:

If we use DRV2605, some questions as below

1. If we use any waveform that list at section 11.2(Waveform Library Effects List), do we need pay any fee to Immersion?

2. Except above, do we need pay any fee to IMMERSION for haptic function use (field of use)?

3. If we want to fine tune some waveforms that list at section 11.2 or waveform made by ourselves for our product application, do we need pay any fee to Immersion?

4. If we want to fine tune some waveforms that list at section 11.2 or waveform made by ourselves for our product application, who will help us to develop it, TI or Immersion?

Hi, Poki,

There's no need to pay additional fee to Immersion. As stated in the datasheet ( http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv2605.pdf#page=57 ), the Immersion licence has been already payed by TI and there's no need the users pay for additional licence or usage of their libraries even if they are used in the field.

Unfortunately, the waveforms parameters in the libraries cannot be modified. What I recommend is use our DRV2604 or DRV2624 devices. These devices support internal RAM that can be used to crate your own waveforms. However, due to the Immersion contract that we have with Immersion, we cannot adjust or help the customers to crate their own effects.

Hi, Poki,

No, there's no need to pay additional fee if you use the DRV2604 or DRV2624 waveform development. This is already covered by TI.
