DRV2624: Is it possible to use without I2C implementation? If so what about ERM/LRA mode selection?

Part Number: DRV2624
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2603

Hi,

I like DRV2624 and I am thinking of using it instead of previously chosen DRV2603.

However I do not need I2C connection and want to run the driver using pwm only.

I see that I2C connection is required to set ERM/LRA mode.

Is there a possibility to set either ERM/LRA without I2C or should I use a driver such as 2603 instead?

Additionally can I use DRV2624 or DRV2603 with ERM in series? Will the device still work in closed loop mode?

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Nick,

Thank you for submitting your question and sorry for the delayed repsonse

The DRV2624 is designed for I2C communication only, so in the case of wanting to use a driver with PWM only is only possible with other models such as the DRV2603.

Depending on your reason for wanting to only use PWM, the Real Time Playback (RTP) mode available on the DRV2624 is helpful in generating customized outputs straight form the host processors, although this still requires I2C communication

    Best,
