DRV8353: DRV8353 Application

Part Number: DRV8353
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8350, INA240, CONTROLSUITE, TMS320F28069M, TIDA-01629

Hi TI expert,

May I know whether DRV8353 can be used for Servo Drives.

Best regards,

Thomas

  • Hello Thomas,

Yes, the DRV8353 can be used for servo drives. In fact we made a reference design with the title "48V/500W Three-phase Inverter with Smart Gate Driver Reference Design for Servo Drives" https://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-01629

The design uses the DRV8350, which is the same device as the DRV8353 but without the current sense amplifiers. So the design could be adapted to swap the INA240 with the DRV8353--with some tradeoffs of current sense accuracy.

It should help you understand some of the configurations, please take a look at the reference design.

We also have other servo designs you can browse, just type servo into the search bar.  https://www.ti.com/applications/industrial/motor-drives/reference-designs.html#search?applid=120,907

  • Hello

I plan to use TMS320F28069M to design a DC48V servo driver. If possible, I can provide TIDA-01629 reference program. Thank you

  • Hello Thomas,

Upon accessing the controlSUITE software, you can navigate to the TIDM-SERVO-LAUNCHXS Software example (which is to be used with this design).

Please take a look Software Design section in the design guide for more detailed instructions and use the C2000 E2E forum for specific questions about the software.

    Best,

    -Cole
