DRV2700: GFB value

Hi Team,

A customer wants to send a pwm signal (0V to 3.3V) at a frequency between 500Hz - 1000Hz and generates output at 100V-150V Vpp. He looking for the GFB value of DRV2700. According to him, 150Vpp would mean 0V to 150V. Do we have this information?

Actually, he should expect a differential signal from -75V to 75V for 150Vpp. As shown in the application curves of page 19 ( https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv2700.pdf#page=19 ), the output will generate a voltage level from 0V to 75V (Vpp / 2). The differential result will go from -75V to 75V.

The customer would need to generate at least a VBST level of 80V since VBST must be 5V more than Vp (75V). Feedback resistors values 75K and 12K could be used to generate this VBST level.

I think the gain of 34.8dB should be enough for the voltage levels you are intending to use.

Other thing to consider is the output load. As shown the figure 11 of typical characteristics ( https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv2700.pdf#page=7 section, you would need to select a load below 33nF in order to reach the 150Vpp level.

Hi Luis,

Thank you very much for your response. Actually Vpp was a typo and what I meant was I want to generate voltage from 0 to 150 V but I understand what you are saying. So in my case I will have to generate -150 to +150V and the output(+) would give me 0 to 150V so I don't think this IC can generate this voltage level at boost configuration, I may have to use flyback configuration?

Hi, Sainath,

This is correct. In order to generate output levels from 0 to 150V, it would be necessary to use the device in flyback configuration.

Have you tested our DRV2700EVM-HV500 for evaluation purposes?
