proper drive for brush dc motor

my motor is operating at 12 volt, max current is 450 mA. The pwm frequency needed is 160 kHZ. Please suggest me a suitable drive for brush dc motor with these specs and pwm signal would come from tms320f28335

Hello Ankita,

I would recommend DRV8848 (either as two channels or in parallel) or the DRV8801.

Hi Ankita,

Why do you need such a high PWM frequency for a brushed DC motor?

What is the minimum duty cycle you intend to use?

What is PWM increments do you intend to use?

Once these questions are answered, a suggested device can be provided.

my motor's resistance is - 36.5 ohm, rotor inductance - 2200 microHenry. Based on this time constant is 60.27 microsec. So fpwm = 8 / 60.27 = 132.7 KHZ. I am planning to use www.ti.com/.../drv8412.pdf. drv8412 . plz let me know if this is suitable.

I have mentioned wrong voltage for the motor. motor should operate at 28 volt and not at 12 v.

Hi Ankita,

The DRV8412 is suitable since the max PWM frequency is 500kHz.

thank you Rick!! This drive seems suitable. But I have one new issue.. I am not getting a suitable DC/DC Converter for this drive..My supply voltage is 28 V. Will a step down converter work for this.. If could help me in this..

Hi Ankita,

As long as the voltage and current requirements are met, any type of voltage supply should work.
