Hi,

My customer connects the DRV8889-Q1EVM to one of two Windows PCs, where the COM-port can be seen under GUI menu Options, and also under Windows system.

So the hardware has been recognized, but in the GUI itself it states "Device disconnected" and on bottom banner it say "Hardware not Connected".

Please advise how to proceed.

The new GUI is just available today. When did you order the EVM? If you order it after 9/20/2019, the GUI can be download from http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc796

or https://dev.ti.com/gallery/info/DRV8889Group/DRV8889-Q1/ver/1.1.1/

After the GUI is installed, the new GUI baud rate is 115200. The new GUI can run offline without network support requirement.

If you ordered the EVM before 9/2019, the GUI can be downloaded from http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc768

We ordered on 21:st of August so I pointed the customer to use the latter version (slvc768.zip) and retry.

Wang,

Then another issue came up. The GUI (slvc768.zip) threw a fault that prevents running the application.

Please advise on how to fix this:

The customer re-installed several times, without getting past this pop-up.

I downloaded slvc768.zip and install the GUI. The GUI 1.0.0 was installed successfully even I have GUI 1.1.1.

After I installed it, I do see the nw.js location. It is linked to GitHub.com/… and version is V0.27.4. I don't remember GUI 1.1.1 has different NW.js version. Let me verify it.

Do you install other software recently which could affect nw.js?

I just verified, the GUI1.1.1 has same nw.js version which is v0.27.4. Let me check the GUI developer to see his comment.

Wang,

There must be something fundamentally wrong with the slvc768.zip version since my customer fails to get a stable system on several PCs.

He reports:

"On my main PC same issue with the error message /Profile error occurred/.
On a lab PC I can install and run the program and connect to the DRV board but it loses the connection after a few seconds."

We ordered the EVM in August 21:st, so please note the HW revision he is using.

- One thought came to my mind; can you please specify how to install the complete environment behind a firewall/offline mode, if that would be hindering some components to be correctly fetched from the web?

Two options:

1. We have the new GUI/firmware update which request MSP-FET tool (http://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-FET ). If you have MSP-FET tool, you can download the new GUI from http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/slvc796. The GUI/FW upgrade instruction is also included in that zip file.

2. Please help me read the board white label. Is it DRV8899-Q1EVM or DRV8889-Q1EVM?

If it is DRV8899-Q1EVM. do you want to evaluate the DRV8889 stall detection function?

a. If Yes. You want to evaluate the stall detection. You have to upgrade the GUI/FW with MSP-FET tool. Or, return the old GUI and get a new EVM.

b. If you don't want to evaluate the stall detection function, the correct GUI should be downloaded from

https://dev.ti.com/gallery/info/DRV8889Group/DRV8899-Q1/ver/1.0.0/

If it is DRV8889-Q1EVM, slvc768.zip should work. The GUI composer runtime v7.2.0 can be downloaded from
