DRV8801-Q1: DRV8801-Q1 MODE1 PWM frequency

Hello Support team,

My customer is investigating DRV8801-Q1 for non motor application. They request us to review if DRV8801-Q1 can support their usage. Could you support?

They plan to control Phase, MODE1 and MODE2 by PWM signal

MODE1: 100kHz to 120kHz

MODE2, PHASE: 50kHz to 60kHz.

Need to control OUT A/B separately

Especially, they would like to control MODE1 with up to 120kHz. Can DRV8801-Q1 support this? PHASE and Enable is recommended to use below 100kHz, however, there is no information for MODE1 fPWM on datasheet.

If DRV8801-Q1 can't support, could you tell me your recommended device?

Hi Ikeda-san,

The device is tested for 50kHz. Typical motor driver applications are not designed for frequencies of the magnitudes you specify.

The DRV8412 and DRV8432 are designed for PWMs up to 500kHz, have better Rdson, dead time, and propagation delay. Maybe one of those devices can work for you. Their packages also have great thermal performance.
