Hi,

We are evaluating the DRV2605LEVM-CT Library to build our own application on another MCU. This library contains built-in values for ERM/LRA Open/Closed Loop settings for various actuators. As I understood, these values were calculated according to the specifications of the listed actuators. But we will use different actuators which are not listed in this driver file. 

I want to know how did you calculate these values. I've read the DRV2605L datasheet and Setup Guide documents and I am not able to calculate below parameters:

  • OverDriveVoltage Register for ERM Closed Loop
  • OverDriveVoltage Register for LRA Open Loop
  • OverDriveVoltage Register for LRA Closed Loop
  • RatedVoltage Register for LRA Open Loop
  • RatedVoltage Register for LRA Closed Loop

In Section 1.4.2(LRA — Rated and Overdrive Voltages) of the sloa189 file, the loop mode is not specified. Do we use the same values for LRA in both Open and Closed-loop modes? I checked the ActuatorSettings.h file of the DRV2605LEVM-CT Library and saw that the Open-loop and Closed-Loop settings for LRA are different. How did you calculate these values? Can you please give me the formulas?

    Hi Wenbin,

    I found a link on the precisionmicrodrives.com mentioning about an excel sheet provided by TI. Here is the link:

    I was able to download it and I can see the excel sheets for ERM and LRA actuators. Is this archive up-to-date? If yes, we can mark this topic as resolved. 

    By the way, that's interesting because I couldn't find this (or any other) calculator while searching on google by various keywords. Am I missing something while searching for this kind of resources on TI's website? If I didn't miss anything, I wanted to give you the feedback of this for you to improve helping users reach this kind of resources more easily :)

    Hi Abdullah,

    we have different excel calculation sheets for the different products. 

    the excel sheets you found is released on 2014, but the latest datasheet of DRV2605 is updated on  2018, the calculation formula has slightly difference. so you can change the formula in the excel sheet according to the updated formula listed in the latest datasheet. then you can use the excel file.
