Hello E2E,
About a formula (4), are Ioutx source side current only? If include the sink current, this formula is not to establish.
Best regards,
ACGUY

Hi ACGUY,
Thanks for your question. One of our experts will respond tomorrow.
Thanks,

Hi ACGUY,
This device does look at both source and sink current in the formula for cycle-by-cycle current limit. This is to properly measure the total current in the motor.
For example if the motor is in BRAKE state with all three low-side MOSFETs ON, the measured current would be zero (IA+IB+IC = 0) since there is no drive vector being applied.
In the case of the motor being actively driven, IA+IB+IC will not be zero and the device can regulate the drive current.
Thanks,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Thank you for reply.
The maximum current limit is 8A and Vref is 1.25V and GAIN is 0.15.
There is always a source and a sink to energize the motor, and if IoutA = 8A_source, then IoutB = IoutC = 4A_sink.
Is the total current 8A in this case? Or is it 16A?

ACGUY
