UDIM pin functionality on the TPS92640/1 Buck Controller

I'm using a TPS92640 Buck controller to regulate LED's. Just have some questions about the UDIM pin functionality below.


I would like to know what happens with the TPS92640 controller when UDIM pin is below the UVLO threshold, but above the 370mV threshold. Is the HG or LG pins on at the time? Are the internal regulators operational? Such as Vref or Vcc? Is the controller pulsing at a low duty cycle to try to get the control loop going?

 

Also, you can also put the controller into a low-powered state if you ground the UDIM pin (V_UDIM < 370mV).  Could you let me know what state the controller is in as stated above?

 

Some of my design parameters that might help:

Operational Voltage: 16V to 36V

Vf of LED's 16V max

Current of LED's: 1A

Fclk = 300 KHz

  • There is some tolerance on the 370mV threshold but if you keep the lower level above that threshold and below the turn on threshold the part will stop switching completely but it will stay alive fully until you pull UDIM back up (it will start switching again) or below 370mV for 13ms where it will enter low power shutdown.
