BQ76952: comparison between BQ769142

Part Number: BQ76952
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ769142

Hello Guys,

Good day.

Our customer is about to start a new design and is considering using either BQ76952 or BQ769142.

Looking at page 18 of the BQ769142 it highlights its capability of cell balancing - which isnt displayed as a feature of the SoC itself... (Additionally its on the SAME page of the BQ76952)

It seems that the BQ76952 may have more features - but the BQ769142 seems to have more features too. So customer was wondering if there was more accurate information.

They are still unsure of exactly what  exactly to use. Can you provide detailed differences between the two?

Thanks to confirm,

Art

  • Hi Art,

The 2 devices are from the same family, so they do have all of the same features. The differences are:

    - The BQ769142 is configured for 14S applications (or less). The BQ76952 supports up to 16S

    - The BQ769142 has CRC enabled on the I2C communication by default. The standard BQ76952 does not. (However, there is a BQ7695202 version available that has CRC enabled).

Otherwise, they are the same. All of the documents for the BQ76952 also apply to the BQ769142.

    Best regards,

    Matt
