TPS62095: Output Discharge Function

Part Number: TPS62095
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62865, TPS62827

Hi Team,

My customer has a question of the output discharge function of the TPS62095. I understand that if VIN stays the output will discharge through 200ohm after turning off EN. Their question is what will happen if we shutdown the VIN provided that the VIN and EN are tight together? In another word, will output discharge function still work when VIN is being turned off?

Thanks,
Mitchell

  • Hi Mitchell,

When Vin is tied to EN, the device will turn off due to UVLO instead of the EN going low.  The D/S says that UVLO will turn on the discharge circuit.  It will be weaker, however, due to the lower Vin applied to the device.

Newer 4A devices, which are recommended over the TPS62095, are the TPS62827 and TPS62865.
