TPS7A8300: Soft-Started function will be valid or not when it connects other SW via ANY-OUT network

Part Number: TPS7A8300

I am Koki Tsushima who is NCG FAA.

My boss and I were asked by account about  Soft-Started function will be valid or not when it connects other SW via ANY-OUT network.

Account wants to change voltage from 2.9V →0.9V→1.1V.

Account concerns that soft-started function will be valid when the voltage change from 0.9 to 1.1V.

As below, I will note my idea, but they may be incorrect because I am currently studying as NCG.

I think this function will not be valid because accounts use external power via ANY-OUT network.

I think ANY-OUT program will connect pins 5-11 from Error amp minus, but Noise-reduction and soft-started pin (NR/SS) pin is No. 13 to the error amp plus.

Please help me to understand this function and this device for me and give correct information to the Account.

Koki

  • Hi Koki,

If the TPS7A8300 has already turned on into steady state, and the customer then decides to change the output voltage via the ANY-OUT pins, then the device will not soft start to the new setpoint.  The device will ramp there as fast as the device can, depending on the load current and output capacitance installed.  You are correct in your analysis on the NR/SS pin and your reasoning.

    Thanks,
